How to Make the Charlie Wilson Tiny Desk AI Video
How to Make the Charlie Wilson Tiny Desk AI Video
The Charlie Wilson Tiny Desk template on Summrs puts your group into the performance — five photos in, one video out. Your people replace the lead singer, three backup dancers, and the saxophone player.
Every Saturday produces new losers
The trend took off in October 2026 when a TikTok creator called The Burner swapped college football coaches into the clip — Sarkisian, Kirby Smart, and three others who lost that Saturday, wearing their own gear, performing with full energy right after the worst game of their season. The video spread across TikTok and X almost immediately.
The same format works for any group: friend groups, office teams, fantasy football leagues, anyone who took an L that week.
The Source Clip
The performance is from Charlie Wilson's Tiny Desk Concert, published June 2023. The full set runs 29 minutes and covers "Computer Love," "There Goes My Baby," "I'm Blessed," "Sweet Yamz," and more. The template uses the closing number: "Outstanding" by The Gap Band — the one Charlie Wilson made famous with his brothers Robert and Ronnie in the early '80s.
The 19-second section has five people on camera:
- The lead singer — center frame, performing directly to camera
- Three backup dancers — flanking the singer, choreographed moves, visible throughout
- The saxophone player — to the side, playing over the chorus
The audio from the performance carries over into the generated video.
Steps
- Open the Charlie Wilson Tiny Desk template on Summrs.
- Upload five photos — lead singer, three backup dancers, and saxophone player. Face and outfit visible in each.
- Pick your quality — 720p or 480p.
- Generate. You get a vertical 9:16 clip, about 19 seconds.
Who Gets Cast as the Singer
The lead singer slot (Photo 1) gets the most camera time and is the center of the performance. This is the person the video is about. The backup dancers and sax player are supporting roles — still visible, still swapped, but the singer is the star.
If you are making this for a group:
- The birthday person goes in the singer slot
- The group chat roast — the person who lost the bet, the fantasy football loser, whoever deserves to be on stage whether they want to be or not
- The football play — the losing coach is the singer, their assistants are the dancers, and whoever you want on sax is on sax
The casting is what made the original video hit. The coaches were singing right after losing. The joke is in who you put where.
Why This Template Keeps Working
Most viral AI templates have a one-week window. This one resets every Saturday:
- College football produces new losers every week. New coaches, new casting, new video.
- NFL, NBA, soccer, anything competitive — whoever lost becomes the singer.
- Not limited to sports. Friend groups, office teams, family group chats — anyone who took an L that week can end up performing Outstanding.
The format is evergreen because the joke renews itself.
About Charlie Wilson and Outstanding
Charlie Wilson — "Uncle Charlie" — is a vocalist with a 50+ year career. He fronted The Gap Band with his brothers Robert and Ronnie, landing hits like "Outstanding," "You Dropped a Bomb on Me," and "Burn Rubber on Me." Snoop Dogg brought him into hip-hop in 1996, coining the "Uncle Charlie" name, and he has since worked with Kanye West, Tyler the Creator, Nas, and Don Toliver.
The Tiny Desk Concert was published in June 2023. "Outstanding" closes the set, and the 19-second section used in this template captures the energy of the full performance.
